Police arrest wife of man fatally shot in Alexandria

WASHINGTON — Police have arrested a woman in the fatal shooting of an elderly man in Alexandria Wednesday.

Paula Marshall, 47, has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting her husband, 75-year-old Rolf Marshall, police said.

Around 10:45 a.m., police responded to a 911 call about a shooting in the 1100 block of Duke Street. Officers discovered the elderly man suffering from at least one gunshot wound to his upper body, acting Alexandria Police Chief David Huchler told NBC Washington, WTOP’s broadcast news partner.

The man was transported to a hospital in critical condition and later died.

Huchler described the area where the shooting took place as “a quiet neighborhood.”

He added, “We typically don’t have any issues here. And you do have a pretty cohesive community here.”

According to police, this is Alexandria’s fifth homicide this year.
