Police seek driver who assaulted teen in van in Alexandria

WASHINGTON — Police are searching for the driver of a white van who assaulted a teen in Alexandria last week.

Police say a 17-year-old girl told police she was walking on in the 6300 block of Quander Road at about 12:15 p.m. on Feb. 18 when a man drove up in a van and told her to get in. She complied, police say.

The suspect made verbal advances toward the victim and touched her inappropriately, Fairfax County police say. The suspect then dropped her off not far from where she was initially picked up.

The victim did not need medical attention.

On Monday, there was a second report of a similar vehicle in the same area before 3 p.m. There was no victim during that incident.

The suspect is described as a white or light-skinned Hispanic in his late 20s. He is between 5 feet, 6 inches and 5 feet, 10 inches tall and has short, curly black hair. He was heavyset, clean shaved and wore a white T-shirt at the time of the assault.

Police say they have increased their presence in the area since the assault.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the driver or any details about the case can contact police at 1-866-411-TIPS or 703-691-2131.
