WASHINGTON — Five Alexandria City Public Schools are no longer in “lock-in” mode after a bank robbery in the Virginia city.
Alexandria City Public Schools sent out an alert at 11:16 a.m. that said the “lock-in” had been lifted.
It started as police investigated a robbery at a PNC Bank in the 800 block of North Washington Street.
Police say two suspects with a weapon stole cash from the bank. No one was injured.
Police said in a tweet that they had the two suspects in custody.
These five schools were in lock-in mode:
- George Washington Middle School;
- Cora Kelly School for Math, Science and Technology;
- Maury Elementary;
- Charles Barrett Elementary School;
- Mount Vernon Community School.
During a lock-in, all doors are locked but classes continue as normal.
