Police release sketch of Alexandria attempted rape suspect

WASHINGTON — Alexandria police are searching for the suspect who attempted to rape a woman in Alexandria last week.

Police say a man attempted to rape a woman in the Unit block of Canterbury Square on Friday, Oct. 23. Police have not identified the suspect and released a sketch Wednesday in hopes that the public can help name the man.

He is described as a black man in his 30s and about 5 feet, 11 inches to 6 feet tall, according to police. He has a larger build and weighs between 200 and 240 pounds, police add. Also, he has long, braided hair, facial hair on his chin and tattoos on his arms.

The suspect was last seen wearing a black tank top and dark-colored boxer shorts, according to police.

The sketch of the suspect is based on facial features and is not a photograph, police say. Also, the suspect may have altered his appearance, police add.

If you recognize the man, contact police at 703-746-6858.
