WASHINGTON — Saturday afternoon saw some wild weather roll through the D.C. area.

The day began with another round of brutal heat, with the heat index over 100 degrees. In the afternoon, a round of storms came through the area bringing some damaging winds with them.

There were several trees and power lines knocked down, and one person was injured when a tree fell onto a car on Rt. 340 at Potomac River Crossing near Harpers Ferry.

A second round of storms rumbled through the area around 6 p.m. that brought some severe weather with them. A tornado warning was issued for south central Stafford County, southeastern city of Fredericksburg and northeastern Spotsylvania County.

There’s a chance that another line of storms could roll through the area after 9 p.m.

Storms also knocked out power in several areas. The map below contains current power outages in Virginia, Maryland and D.C. This map is updated every 10 minutes.

Sunday looks to be another uncomfortable day though with highs in the 90s and a heat index over 100 degrees.
