Wizards’ John Wall donates $400,000 to D.C. organization

WASHINGTON — Washington Wizards point guard John Wall is making a difference off the court. The 25-year-old recently donated $400,000 to a D.C. organization that supports homeless children in the city.

Bright Beginnings, Inc. made a Facebook post about the donation on Friday, saying the money would benefit the advancement of a second child development center in Southeast Washington.

“Support from individuals like Mr. Wall, gives Bright Beginnings the encouragement to continue to provide comprehensive services for homeless children in the District of Columbia,” wrote Dr. Betty Jo Gaines, Bright Beginnings Executive Director. “It is evident that John Wall is sensitive and concerned about the plight of homeless children in D.C. and he wants these children to succeed.”

The new Bright Beginnings, Inc. center will include a John Wall “Wall of Achievement,” which will feature students’ achievements.

According to the organization, the new child development center is scheduled to open in 2017.
