WASHINGTON — A Spotsylvania teen had attended a graduation party before he stabbed three unarmed men, killing two of them, in a fight outside a Fredericksburg burger joint Sunday, police say.
The 15-year-old boy has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and was being held at the Rappahannock Juvenile Detention Center. His name has not been released.
The third victim, a 29-year-old Stafford County man, remains in the hospital, according to Fredericksburg police.
Police say the victims were with a group of adults who had been at a party at a nearby bar before going to the Cook Out for a meal at the Greenbrier Shopping Center about 2 a.m. Sunday. The arrested teen attended a graduation party earlier and was with a group of teenagers at the drive-thru restaurant, police say.
An argument between the two groups escalated into a physical confrontation. During the fight that broke out, the three men were wounded in various places including the chest, back and torso. Police say none of the three victims was armed.
Police identified the two men who died as Anthony J. Carter, 28, of Albany, Georgia, and Mac O. Hughes, 30, of Portsmouth, Virginia. The surviving victim’s name has not been released.
Anyone with information about the fight is asked to call Detective Alexandra Cameron at 540-654-5778.
