Man hit, killed by Amtrak train in Montgomery Co.

WASHINGTON — A man was struck and killed by a train in Montgomery County Wednesday afternoon.

A northbound Amtrak train hit a man on the tracks between the Garrett Park and Twinbrook stations in Rockville, Maryland, near Bou Avenue, around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, said Officer Rick Goodale of the Montgomery County police. The man died following the collision.

MARC’s Brunswick Line was held at its Silver Spring station as police investigated. MARC and Amtrak share the track. All later westbound Brunswick trains were held in D.C. until the investigation finished.

Metro honored MARC Brunswick Line tickets Wednesday afternoon.

The person struck by the train and killed has been identified as 39-year-old Marcus Alan Eubanks.

Police say the Eubanks was in the area of the tracks in the 5700 block of Bou Avenue when, for reasons still under investigation, he was struck by the train.
