Metro’s deputy manager of operations resigns

WASHINGTON — Another shakeup is coming to the beleaguered Metro transit system.

On Thursday, Rob Troup, Metro’s Deputy General Manager of Operations, offered his resignation to General Manager Paul Wiedefeld after almost six years of service.

Troup started at Metro in 2010 as the system’s Chief of Infrastructure Services. He went on to become Metro’s assistant general manager of Transit Infrastructure and Engineering Services.

Under his leadership, Metro introduced new rail cars and launched the Silver Line, according to an internal memo provided to WTOP and NBC Washington.  Troup was in charge of the 7000-series rail cars that are now having technology issues.

“On the operations side, Rob often provided 24-7 leadership with the recent blizzard and Pope’s visit as examples of many events or incidents in which he directed the rail organization’s preparation and operation,” Wiedefeld wrote in the memo.

Andy Off, Metro’s Assistant General Manager of Transit Infrastructure and Engineering Services, will now oversee day-to-day rail service and rail transportation in addition to track, structure and car maintenance.
