Metro adjusts service for wreath-hanging event at Arlington Nat’l Cemetery

WASHINGTON — Wreaths Across America is expected to draw thousands of people to Arlington National Cemetery Saturday.

Drivers should expect big crowds around the Memorial Bridge and Metro riders should expect to find crowded stations and trains.

For the event, Metro is running full weekend service on all lines except for the Red Line. The Blue Line, which serves the cemetery, will run eight-car trains.

In past years, Arlington Cemetery Station and Blue Line trains have been extremely crowded. Metro will also run shuttle buses from the Pentagon Station to the cemetery for riders who want another option.

Because of the crowding, access to Arlington Cemetery Station may be limited to entrance-only or exit-only at some during the day.

Metro plans some single-tracking on the Red Line all weekend.

And on Sunday, the Forest Glen Station will be closed until early afternoon for an emergency drill.
