The cost to watch local teams play in the NCAA Tournament

WASHINGTON — Four local teams are in the NCAA Tournament. If you’re deciding whether to go see them play in person, WTOP has done a little homework that may help you decide if the experience is worth the money.

The prices and availability are subject to change and were gathered Monday morning.

Portland, Oregon – Moda Center
Thursday and possibly Saturday

West: Virginia Commonwealth University Rams (No. 7) versus Ohio State Buckeyes (No. 10)
4:40 p.m. EST – TNT

South: Georgetown Hoyas (No. 4) versus Eastern Washington Eagles (No. 13)
9:57 p.m.  EST – truTV

Airfare at last check out of Dulles Airport (IAD) to Portland (PDX) for Wednesday to Monday is in the $700 range.

Tickets to get into the Moda Center start at about $200. Driving from the D.C. Metro area to the Moda Center in Portland is about 2,800 miles and estimated to take about 42 hours.

 

In Charlotte, North Carolina – Time Warner Cable Arena
Friday and possibly Sunday

East: Virginia Cavaliers (No. 2) versus Belmont Bruins (No. 15)
3:10 p.m. EST – truTV

Airfare between Baltimore Washington Thurgood Marshall (BWI) and Charlotte (CLT) Friday to Monday starts at about $288.

The drive is about 399 miles estimated to take about six hours.

Tickets to get into the Time Warner Cable Arena begin in the $150 range.

 

In Columbus, Ohio – Nationwide Arena
Friday and perhaps Sunday

Midwest: Maryland Terrapins (No. 4) versus Valparaiso Crusaders (No. 13)
4:40 p.m. EST – TNT

Tickets into Nationwide Arena start at about $195.

Airfare between Reagan National (DCA) and Columbus (CMH) Friday to Monday is about $300. The roughly 404-mile drive to Columbus is estimated to take about six hours and 20 minutes.
