2 charged in deadly Woodbridge shooting arrested in NY

WASHINGTON — Two men are facing murder charges in connection with the shooting death of a man in Woodbridge, Virginia, last weekend, according to Prince William County police.

Ricardo Stephen Tompkins, 24, of Mechanicsville, Maryland, was arrested Wednesday in Syracuse, New York, on charges of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Tompkins was found in New York state with Abdisalam Ali Roble, 25, who was arrested Tuesday on charges of murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony, according to police.

The charges are tied to the fatal shooting of Roble’s roommate, Najee A. Mason, on June 4.

At around 9:20 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting in the 14900 block of Potomac Heights Place, near the Elan Potomac Heights Luxury Apartments off Delaware Drive, and found Mason, 24, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Mason later died at the hospital. Roble was named as a suspect the following day, police said.

Police said on Friday that Roble and Tompkins were awaiting extradition to Virginia.
