Police: One dead in Chillum double shooting

WASHINGTON — One man was killed in a double shooting in Chillum, Maryland early Sunday.

Police in Prince George’s County say the shooting happened in the 6800 block of Riggs Road at around 3 a.m., where the two men were found wounded.

They were taken to the hospital, but one of the men died from his injuries. Police identified the victim on Monday as 25-year-old Gamaliel Nerio Rico, of Bladensburg.

The other shooting victim is in critical condition.

Preliminarily, detectives do not believe this was a random act. Detectives are working to identify a motive and suspect, or suspects, in this case.

The investigation is ongoing.
