Prince George’s County Police are searching for 17-year-old murder suspect

WASHINGTON — Prince George’s County Police have obtained an arrest warrant for 17-year-old Chet Markland Jarrett Jr. and are actively searching for him as a suspect in Friday night’s murder in Glenn Dale.

Jarrett’s last known address is in the 100 block of B Street in Lothian, Maryland. Jarrett is being charged with first- and second-degree murder after allegedly shooting and killing 17-year-old Jajuan Mcrae Friday night. He is being charged as an adult.

At 9:55 p.m. Friday, patrol officers were called to the 4300 block of Rockport Lane in Glenn Dale, where they found Mcrae outside, suffering from gunshot wounds. He later died at the hospital.

Detectives believe the fight that ultimately led to the shooting stemmed from an ongoing argument between the two teenagers.

Anyone with information on Jarrett’s whereabouts is asked to call the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 301-772-4925.
