Fire guts Mount Rainier home

WASHINGTON — Fire engulfed an unoccupied home in Mount Rainier, Maryland Thursday morning.

Firefighters received the call at 5:30 a.m., and were on the scene in about 7 minutes, says Mark Brady, spokesman for the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department.

The single-family home is in the 4000 block of 37th Street.

The fire spread to a car in the driveway.

The person who lives in the home is in the hospital for an unrelated reason.

No injuries have been reported, although the house next door sustained damage. No one was injured in the second home.

The cause remains under investigation.
