Giants’ Pierre-Paul injures hand in fireworks accident

WASHINGTON – Star New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul injured his hand in a fireworks accident on Saturday night.

The NFL’s website says that Pierre-Paul was trying to light fireworks around his house in Florida. As of Sunday night, they reported, doctors are still checking him for nerve damage, but that no long-term effects are expected to be serious.

Pierre-Paul, 26, has 12.5 sacks and three forced fumbles for the Giants last year. The Giants used their franchise tag on him, NFL.com says, but he hasn’t signed the $14.6 million tender, so is no currently under contract with them, or with anyone.
