Rallycross driver buzzes through D.C.

WASHINGTON — D.C. got a taste on Tuesday of the high-horsepower action coming to town this weekend.

Ushered by a police motorcade, Red Bull Global Rallycross driver Rhys Millen took one of the GRC cars on a scenic tour of the District.

Starting on the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge, Millen drove past Nationals Park and the U.S. Capitol Building, around Thomas Circle and by the Washington Monument on his way to RFK Stadium, which will host the event, taking place Saturday and Sunday June 21-22.

Rallycross racing incorporates both street and dirt sections with tight turns and jumps.

Tickets for both Saturday and Sunday Red Bull Rallycross DC events are for sale here.. Two-day premium admission costs $45 for adults and $20 for children 6-12. Children 5 and under are free with adult admission.

Sunday’s action will be broadcast live on NBC beginning at 2 p.m.
