Cafe Caturra (2931 S. Glebe Road) will be closing by the end of the summer in order to be converted into Tazza Kitchen, a new restaurant from the same owners.
The restaurant opened in the Arlington Ridge Shopping Center in September 2011. It is scheduled to close for six weeks of renovations at some point in August, according to employee Lawrence Blake.
It is then expected to reopen in September or October as Tazza Kitchen, which serves cuisine inspired by the Mediterranean coast and Baja California. Tazza Kitchen, which is owned by the same company as Cafe Caturra, currently has locations in Richmond and Raleigh, N.C., with another coming soon to Columbia, S.C.
As of December, dinner entrees ranged in price from $9.50 to $16.50, according to a glowing review by the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
“No one is really doing that kind of food at that price point,” Blake said.
