A new brewpub is aiming to hit the D.C. region’s beer scene next year. City View Brewhouse, from the same people that own Del Ray Pizzeria in Alexandria’s Del Ray neighborhood, is under development for 6925 Richmond Highway.
The 6,000-square-foot brewery and restaurant just south of Beacon Mall on U.S. Route 1 will have brewing on site but also serve as a tap house focused on Virginia craft beers, according to Sean Snyder, who will manage operations for the restaurant.
There will be between 20 and 25 tap lines, and the cuisine will be supplemented by herbs and produce from a large garden planned for the restaurant. There will be somewhere between 150 and 200 seats, including some on a back patio and game area.
City View is currently looking for a chef, but customers can expect some of what they may have tried at Del Ray Pizzeria, including some of its pizza.
“It will be a similar menu … there will be some constraints, but the focus will be chef-driven,” Snyder said.
The brewhouse is a way of expanding the Del Ray Pizzeria brand — especially its dedication to craft beer and a family atmosphere, Snyder said.
“It’s very exciting,” he said. “We’re trying to create that same sort of family value atmosphere.”
The restaurant, which will have to be built from the ground up, could open as early as this spring, according to Snyder.
