President Barack Obama is visiting troops at Walter Reed today, which means it’s possible the road will be shut down during your evening commute.
The Washington Post reported a one-mile stretch of Wisconsin Avenue/Rockville Pike between Cedar Lane and Battery Lane will be closed until about 6 p.m. today.
Obama’s official White House schedule has him leaving his visit at 4:35 p.m.
Head to East-West Highway, Old Georgetown Road or Jones Bridge Road to avoid the road. Better yet, head to Bradley Boulevard and River Road to avoid potential traffic. As of 3:15 p.m., the road was still open.
A Montgomery County Police spokesperson said the Department can not confirm any information about a road closure for Obama’s visit.
