YouTube turns 8

This video, uploaded at 8:27 p.m. on Saturday April 23, 2005, is the first ever on YouTube. Uploaded by YouTube co-founder Jawed Karim, it shows him talking about elephants at the San Diego Zoo.
In 2007 the video "Charlie Bit My Finger - Again!" also known as "Charlie Bit Me" went viral and is one of the most viewed videos ever on YouTube. In the video, Charlie bites his older brother Harry.
When Britney Spears became the focus of media criticism for her strange public antics, then unknown Chris Crocker came to her defense with this video. After quickly going viral in 2007, Crocker turned into an Internet celebrity. Editor's note: This video contains strong language.
In 2011, then 13-year-old Rebecca Black's single "Friday" became viral on YouTube, but not for the reasons she wanted. It caught on after comedian Michael J. Nelson tweeted that it was "the worst video ever made."
Remember Obama Girl? When Barack Obama first ran for the 2008 presidency, this video called "I got a crush...on Obama" became a hit.
This video, uploaded in 2010, features Paul "Bear" Vasquez filming a double rainbow near Yosemite National Park. His exuberant reaction to the sighting brought the video to its current status of nearly 37 million views.
Motivational speaker Judson Laipply's video "The Evolution of Dance" became viral in 2006. Now in 2013, it still has more than 212 million views.
"David After Dentist" hit it big when David DeVore Jr.'s father posted this video on YouTube of his son reacting to anesthesia.
Known as "Don't Tase Me Bro," this video shows University of Florida student Andrew Meyer being Tasered and arrested after causing a disturbance at a town hall forum with Sen. John Kerry in 2007.
Called "Dramatic Chipmunk" - even though it's a prairie dog - this viral clip is described as "the best 5-second clip on the Internet."
