WASHINGTON – Your web communication could soon be tapped more easily by the government.

A government task force is seeking legislation that would allow the FBI to immediately intercept online communications from sites, such as Facebook and Google, and penalize those who don’t comply, The Washington Post reports.

Critics say the practice will hurt job growth and drive innovators overseas.

The FBI tells The Washington Post it wants to tap the Internet chatter of terrorists and other criminals.
