WASHINGTON – A good workout partner or personal trainer can make all the difference at the gym, but you can now get those exercise benefits without setting foot in a gym.

A new, two-way video fitness program, called Wello allows you to select a workout with a live trainer, who will design a plan for you and monitor your workout.

“You see them, and they see you,” says Leslie Silverglide, cofounder of Wello.

“If your form is incorrect, they can correct that. They can be counting your reps. They can make sure you don’t sit down on the couch.”

In addition to one-on-on workouts, Wello is now offering group classes.

“Yes, you do get to see the other people and you can speak to them, and they can speak to you. It really is just like being in a group class, except all the participants can be around the country or around the world.”

Silverglide says Wello’s software makes the group workout easy, at least technologically.

“The video set-up looks a little bit like the opening scene from ‘The Brady Bunch,’ where you have everyone’s video tiles stacked up,” says Silverglide.

Pricing for the personal trainer sessions is based on the credentials and experience of the certified trainer.

A 60-minute, one-on-one session costs between $35 and $99 or $199 for a workout with a celebrity trainer.

Hour-long group classes range from $10 to $19 or $50 with a celebrity trainer.
