WASHINGTON – Bumper to bumper traffic and long commutes are the norm for Northern Virginia commuters during the week, and now the public has the chance to offer its 2 cents on making it better.
With growth projections estimating that the population of Northern Virginia will grow from 6 million to more than 8 million by 2040, Virginia has been looking at land use and travel patterns through the Super NoVa Transit and Transportation Demand Management Vision Plan.
The plans has been looking at more cross-jurisdicitonal transit services, including rail, rapid bus, commuter bus across Northern Virginia and into the D.C. suburbs. Short and long-term transportation goals are part of the plan.
A public meeting will be held in Manassas Monday night and a plan draft for improving regional travel will be presented.
