Missing Bethesda man found dead on Va. trail

WASHINGTON — A Bethesda, Marylandm man missing for more than three months was found dead in Virginia over the weekend.

The body of John Patrick Donohoe was found on a trail in Warren County, Virginia, on April 2, Montgomery County, Maryland, police said Wednesday. Warren County Sheriff’s Office said a hiker found the remains, which were later determined to be Donohoe’s, near Remount Road and the entrance to the Appalachian Trail.

Donohoe, who was 36 years old when he went missing, had last been seen at a family member’s residence in Bethesda on Dec. 13, 2016.

He left in a black 2011 Chevrolet Equinox, which was located unoccupied in the town of Front Royal, Virginia March 3.

About a week after Donohoe went missing, a woman was caught on camera using Donohoe’s credit card. Chernor Sheriff, 25, was charged with credit card fraud. Police have not released information about how she came into possession of his credit card.

Donohoe’s cause of death is still under investigation by the medical examiner’s Office. Anyone with information is asked to call the Warren County Sheriff’s Office at 540-635-4128.
