14-year-old boy stabs girl at Silver Spring Metrobus stop

WASHINGTON — A 14-year-old boy stabbed a teenage girl at a Metrobus stop in Silver Spring, Maryland, Thursday afternoon, police said.

The boy stabbed a girl, also 14, at the stop outside Eastern Middle School — 300 University Blvd. East — after 3 p.m. Thursday, said Montgomery County police spokesman Officer Rick Goodale.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. She is expected to be OK, Goodale said.

The boy was taken into custody after the incident. Police say the teens knew each other.

In a statement released later Thursday, Montgomery County police say the victim may have been stabbed with a knife.

Police add that the teen boy is being charged as a juvenile with first-degree assault. He has been released to the custody of his parents.
