Montgomery Co. father charged with murder of his infant son

WASHINGTON — A Montgomery County father has been charged with murder for the June death of his infant son.

Austin Ahimbisibwe, 22 of Germantown, told detectives that he had become frustrated at his son’s crying, so he had grabbed the baby by the neck and face, covered the boy’s mouth with his hand and shook him, Montgomery County police said.

Police said Ahimbisibwe called 911 on June 23 to report that his 5-month-old son, Hudson Ahimbisibwe, was not breathing. The infant was transported to a hospital in D.C., where he was pronounced dead.

Ahimbisibwe had been watching his son while his mother was at work.

The infant’s mother, who did not live with Ahimbisibwe, said Hudson had been in good health when she dropped him off, police said.

On Oct. 9 a medical examiner ruled the baby’s death a homicide, caused by head, neck and upper body trauma, according to police.

Ahimbisibwe spoke with investigators and was arrested on Friday. He is charged with second-degree murder and first-degree child abuse resulting in death, police said.

He was being held on a $2.5 million bond.
