Saks says OFF 5TH coming to downtown DC

WASHINGTON — There will be more bargain shopping for the downtown D.C. office crowd.

Less than a month after Nordstrom said it would open a Nordstrom Rack at 555 12th St., NW this fall, Saks 5th Avenue says it will open an OFF 5TH store right next door.

Saks says the OFF 5TH store will open in September, taking 33,000 square feet at the historical Thurman Arnold Building that was home to a Barnes & Noble store that closed last year.

Nordstrom Rack is leasing 37,000 square feet in the same building and will open this fall.

It is the first D.C. store for Off 5th.

Both Nordstrom Rack and OFF 5TH will join a mix of nearby downtown retailers, including Macy’s, H & M, Zara and T.J. Maxx.

Saks has other OFF 5TH outlet stores in Tysons Corner, Leesburg, Chevy Chase and Potomac Mills.

It will be Nordstrom’s 13th Nordstrom Rack location in the Washington and Baltimore areas. The first one opened at Potomac Mills in 1990.
