WASHINGTON — Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, now the D.C. region’s busiest airport, set a passenger record in 2015.
BWI saw more than 23.8 million passengers last year, a 6.8 percent increase over 2014. Also, BWI had six straight monthly records for the number of passengers in 2015.
While international traffic is still a small part of BWI’s service, it is growing the fastest. Its 1.14 million international passengers last year was 31.9 percent more than 2014.
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority will not release official 2015 passenger numbers for Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport until later this month, but a MWAA spokesman says both airports saw more than 40 million passengers combined in 2015.
Reagan National likely set another record for passengers in 2015, while the passenger count at Dulles was likely little changed from 2014.
