Power being restored in D.C., Montgomery Co. after sweeping outages

WASHINGTON — Power has largely been restored to the thousands of D.C. and Montgomery County residents who were in the dark Wednesday.

There are fewer than 10 Pepco customer without power in Montgomery County as of 7 p.m. There are about 100 D.C. customers without power.

At its worst, there were about 3,000 outages in Montgomery County and more than 1,000 in D.C.

Pepco says a state road crew clipped a wire causing a line to sag over Metro tracks between Medical Center and Grosvenor–Strathmore stations.

A train went by and struck the line, knocking out power to the affected Pepco customers.

Pepco hoped to have customers back online by about 4 p.m.
