NIH to admit 2nd Ebola patient

WASHINGTON — An American healthworker who has tested positive for Ebola will be admitted to the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda for treatment.

The NIH says the patient was volunteering in an Ebola treatment facility in Sierra Leone and will be flown back to the United States on a chartered plane. The patient is expected to arrive Friday.

This will be the second Ebola patient treated at the NIH’s Bethesda campus. A nurse who contracted the disease while working at a Dallas hospital was successfully treated in a special clinical studies unit.
