Former Fairfax County officer indicted for stealing gas from county

WASHINGTON — A veteran former Fairfax County police officer was indicted Monday on charges of embezzlement for stealing gasoline from the county.

The charges come after a long investigation into Lon A. Wolber which began in October 2014 when a county employee noticed suspicious activity at a pumping station.

Fairfax County Police found that Wolber stole more than 2,500 gallons of gas from the county.

Wolber  was initially placed on administrative leave during the investigation but has since retired from the force. He’d worked as an officer in the Franconia District for 28 years.
