Tag team twins visit WTOP as ‘WWE Smackdown’ hits Verizon Center

WASHINGTON — “WWE Smackdown” hits Washington D.C. on Tuesday night.

And one of the hottest tag teams in all of sports entertainment stopped by the Glass Enclosed Nerve Center on their way to the Verizon Center.

Jimmy and Jey Uso — who wrestle under the name The Usos — are not only twin brothers, but also part of a legendary wrestling family. Their father, Solofa Fatu, better known as Rikishi, will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame later this month as part of “WrestleMania” weekend.

They are also nephews of The Tonga Kid and the late Umaga, as well as first-cousins once-removed of The Rock, Yokozuna and Roman Reigns, who stopped by WTOP last year.

Tuesday was a fitting day for The Usos to stop by WTOP, as it marked exactly one-year since they won the tag-team titles over The Outlaws (Road Dogg and Billy Gunn: “Oh you didn’t know?”).

The brothers have since lost the tag belts, but they’ll try to regain them on the road to WrestleMania, starting Tuesday night with “WWE Smackdown” at Verizon Center.
