DC police: Scam artists are posing as police union reps

WASHINGTON (AP) — District of Columbia police are warning residents not to give any money to individuals claiming to be representatives from the DC Fraternal Order of Police because they are scam artists.

Police say the department has been notified that people pretending to be police union representatives have been soliciting donations from unsuspecting residents in Leesburg, Virginia. Police said that the union will never solicit donations, and anyone attempting to do so is an impostor.
