DC man arrested in fatal shooting of 19-year-old

WASHINGTON — Police arrested a man over the weekend for his role in the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old in D.C.’s Shaw neighborhood last week.

On Sunday, police arrested 19-year-old Marcus Martin, a Southwest D.C. resident, after the shooting death of Derryk Johnson, also 19, on Aug. 3.

On the night of Aug. 3, the shooting happened in the 600 block of N Street in Northwest. When police arrived on the scene, there were two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds.

Emergency crews transported both victims to an area hospital where Johnson, a Northwest D.C. resident, died. The second victim, whose name has not been released, was admitted in stable condition, according to police.

Martin has been charged with first degree felony murder.
