DC woman killed after filing 3 police reports, getting restraining order

WASHINGTON — A D.C. man has been charged with murdering his ex-girlfriend after she told police she feared for her life.

The day after 40-year-old Stephanie Goodloe filed her third police report this month against her ex-boyfriend, police found her shot to death in her bed early Saturday morning.

Goodloe first went to file a police report against Donald Hairston, 49, on June 4 after he banged on the windows and doors of her home on Kentucky Avenue in Southeast, D.C. and she came out to find her car tires slashed, court documents show.

The two had recently broken up and he wanted to remain in touch with her 11-year-old daughter, the documents said.

Hairston, who appeared in court Monday, was charged with first-degree murder and ordered held without bond. He was also told to stay away from Goodloe’s daughter. According to court documents, the 11-year-old called 911 when she heard shots.

WTOP’s television news partner NBC Washington reports that Goodloe worked in youth ministry at Mount Gilead Baptist Church in Northwest D.C.
