D.C.-based online paint service expands into the Bay Area

D.C.-based online paint service EasyPaint, which connects online users to vetted professional painting services, has expanded into the San Francisco market.

The expansion comes after the startup participated in San Francisco’s TechCrunch Disrupt Battlefield Challenge in September.

Since we last told you about EasyPaint, the company has picked up an impressive roster of business in D.C., including Waterworks’ Georgetown Showroom and The Willard Hotel as well as “private residences of the area’s most in-demand interior designers including Barbara Hawthorn, Michael Hampton and Tracy Morris,” EasyPaint said.

It’s also looking to expand more, though EasyPaint executives did not provide details.

CEO Marty Cornish, a former executive with Sherwin-Williams, created EasyPaint in 2014 with Denis Abrams, the former CEO of Benjamin Moore. The company recently added advirs Scott Abbott, former CEO of Five Star Painting, and Aaron Lee, former CTO of The Home Depot.

Here’s how the online service works: Homeowners looking for help with a painting project can log onto EasyPaint.com. After answering a few questions and submitting photos of project spaces, EasyPaint returns within 24 hours an all-inclusive quote from a contractor for the job. EasyPaint says all of its contractors are insured, licensed, background-checked and have at least five years of experience.
