D.C. attorney general talks online safety with middle schoolers

WASHINGTON — Students at Alice Deal Middle School were greeted Wednesday morning by D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine, who stopped by to speak about online safety.

“We want to use the Internet in a positive way, but we want to be mindful of how it might hurt us,” Racine told the students.

He urged students to be careful about sharing personal data, like passwords, with others.

Racine was joined by Antigone Davis, the head of global safety at Facebook. She told the children to remember that what happens online has an impact in the real world.

“You should be thinking about those kinds of things when you are posting photos and when you are making comments,” she said.
