D.C. police investigate 2 weekend homicides

WASHINGTON — The D.C. police are investigating two homicides in the city about 12 hours and one mile apart.

The police say that Deonte Bethea, 30, of Northwest was found suffering from gunshot wounds on Ogden Street NW, near Center Street. They say they determined he was shot on Center Street, just a couple of blocks away. Bethea was pronounced dead at a hospital later.

And at about 8 a.m. Sunday, the police say that Alejandra Coronado-Cardona, of Northwest, was found dead from stab wounds in the 3300 block of Sherman Avenue NW, just north of Lamont Street at about 8 a.m. Sunday.

The police haven’t released any information on suspects in either case.
