WASHINGTON — The area’s grocery stores are generally closing early on Christmas Eve. Some are opening for Christmas, while some are staying closed. Check the list below for your store.

  • Giant: All pharmacies are closed. About two-thirds of area stores will be open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. (The stores at 10400 Old Georgetown Rd. in Bethesda, Maryland, and 6223 Baltimore National Pike in Catonsville, Maryland, are open 24 hours and will remain open.) Check your individual store.
  • Safeway:  Some stores are open; others are closed. Check the list.
  • Shoppers Food Warehouse: Open 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Find a store.
  • Whole Foods: Some stores are open; others, closed. Find a store and call before you go.
