Boy, 13, charged in Baltimore councilwoman’s carjacking

BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore police say a 13-year-old boy is charged with assaulting an 80-year-old city councilwoman during a carjacking.

Spokesman Donny Moses said in a statement Sunday that the boy was arrested at a family member’s home early Sunday morning. He’s charged as a juvenile with attempted robbery and first- and second-degree assault.

He is the second suspect charged in the attack Friday on Councilwoman Rochelle “Rikki” Spector. A 15-year-old boy was arrested at the scene.

Police say Spector suffered minor injuries when two youths threw her down as she was walking to her car in a condominium garage Friday morning.

Police say the boys took her car but couldn’t leave the garage because of a security gate.

They say two employees held the older suspect until police arrived.
