Man changing tire on BW Parkway dies in hit-and-run

WASHINGTON — Anne Arundel County police are searching for the driver who hit and killed a man and injured a woman as they were changing a tire on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway Sunday night.

The vehicle hit the two people in the area of Route 295 between the county line and Route 198 at about 9 p.m. Sunday. The driver fled the scene after hitting a 38-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman who were attempting to change a flat tire.

Emergency crews transported the man to Laurel Regional Hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries. The man, whose name has not yet been released, later died.

The woman was transported to Shock Trauma Baltimore with injuries that were serious, but not believed to be life-threatening.

Police have not released a description of the vehicle involved.
