Police ID man found dead in Alexandria park

WASHINGTON — Police have identified the man who was killed and his body found at an Alexandria, Virginia, park Monday morning.

On Tuesday, Alexandria police said the man found dead at Beverly Park is 24-year-old Jose Luis Ferman Perez, an Alexandria resident.

On Monday, Alexandria police were called to Beverly Park on North Overlook Drive around 8 a.m. after a person walking through the park found an unresponsive man.

Police say Perez’s death was a homicide. His body was found with upper-body trauma, police say.

The type of crime is “unheard of” in the neighborhood around the park, says Crystal Nosal, public information officer with the Alexandria Police Department.

The case marks Alexandria’s third murder of the year.
