Sacred Heart beats Marist 28-7

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) — RJ Noel threw two touchdown passes, Keshaudas Spence had a short touchdown run and Gordon Hill returned a 40-yard interception for a score Saturday to lift Sacred Heart to a 28-7 win over Marist in a season-opener.

Sacred Heart trailed 7-0, but responded with 28 unanswered points. Noel hit Tyler Dube with a 41-yard TD pass, and Spence scored two possessions later for a 14-7 lead. Hill picked off Achziger’s pass on the first play of the second half and returned it 40 yards for a 21-7 lead. Dube scored on a 12-yard pass from Noel in the third.

Sacred Heart overcame two fumbles and two interceptions, one of which Marist converted into a score.

Ed Achziger threw a 78-yard pass to Joe Tralli on Marist’s first offensive play of the game, then connected with Tralli on a 7-yard touchdown.
