Tennessee Tech beats Kentucky Christian 33-7

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Jared Davis was 18 of 25 and threw two touchdown passes to lead Tennessee Tech past Kentucky Christian 33-7 in both teams’ season opener Thursday night.

Davis threw a 7-yard touchdown to Darian Stone with 11:21 left in the first quarter, and Willie Davis rushed for a 23-yard score later in the frame to give Tennessee Tech a 14-0 lead.

Stone rushed 10 yards for another score in the third quarter.

Cody Matthews caught six passes for 74 yards, including a 35-yard touchdown to cap the Golden Eagles’ scoring.

Justin Crager ran four yards for Kentucky Christian’s only score following a 9-play, 42-yard drive in the fourth quarter. It was Kentucky Christian’s first game against an FCS opponent and the only non-conference game the team will play this season.

Tennessee Tech is now 8-0 under head coach Watson Brown in season openers.
