Who says all playwrights are old & grizzly?
DC area students are jumping into the play-writing arena as part of the 12th annual Arena Stage Student 10-minute Play competition in which D.C.-area students submit original plays. Nearly 800 works were submitted from students in D.C.-area middle and high schools this year. The eight winning playwrights had play-writing master classes and took part in further script development by working with a professional director and are being performed this weekend by professional actors. We had the chance to sit in on the rehearsal of one of the plays written by an 8th grader, Chocolate Bars and a New Life by Sahana Ramani, from Rachel Carson Middle School, Herndon, VA.
