PETERSBURG, Va. (AP) — Petersburg plans to require a $5,000 deposit from filmmakers to use the Centre Hill Museum after two recent projects damaged the historic building.
The museum is housed in 150-year-old museum. Petersburg director of cultural affairs Brian Little tells The Progress-Index (http://bit.ly/1t6XUJj ) that city officials believe the deposit is necessary due to the building’s growing attraction to filmmakers.
The mansion was used recently by crews for the films “Ithaca” and “Turn.” Little says cracks in plaster molding and other damage could have been caused by the building’s interior being exposed to humidity.
Little says both film companies are willing to work with the city to fix the damage.
He says such damage could occur if any large-scale event was held at the mansion.
