Ride On bus footage shows lead up to crash (VIDEO)

WASHINGTON – Commuters were jostled and thrown out of their seats as a Maryland Ride On bus careened into a Silver Spring home earlier this week, according to video first obtained by NBC 4.

“God, what is this?” Kema Olamide, owner of the home, recalls thinking when the transit bus slammed into his house.

Olamide had just finished parking his car on the street when the accident happened, he told NBC 4. He is thankful his daughter, whose bedroom faces the street, was already at school.

“I’m so thankful to God,” he said. “It could have been the end of that story.”

There were 10 to 15 people riding on bus when it crashed into Olamide’s home, police say. Nine people were evaluated for injuries.

Officials are still investigating what caused the accident, but they say this was not the first time a Ride On bus slammed into a building. There have been two other incidents since March 2011, when a bus hit a Gaithersburg townhouse. In May of that same year, another bus slammed into the side of a Kentucky Fried Chicken on Georgia Avenue near the Glenmont Metro station.
