Former Sweden midfielder Klas Ingesson dies at 46

STOCKHOLM (AP) — Klas Ingesson, a former Sweden midfielder who played at the 1990 and 1994 World Cups, has died. He was 46.

Swedish club Elfsborg said Ingesson, the team’s coach, died Wednesday. He was diagnosed with incurable cancer in 2009.

Ingesson played 57 times for Sweden, taking part in two World Cups and reaching the semifinals at the 1994 tournament in the United States. He also played at the 1992 European Championship.

Ingesson also played for Sheffield Wednesday, PSV Eindhoven, Marseille and Bari.
