WASHINGTON — Fans going to the Nationals post-season games will be able to take Metro and not worry about whether the subway trains are running late at night.
An American University-Metro partnership will keep the subway running Sunday through Thursday.
If the post-season games are still in play at 10:30 p.m., Metro will add additional hour of late-night service — until 12:20 a.m.– from Navy Yard-Ballpark Station.
If the Sunday through Thursday night games go into extra innings or experience rain delays, Metro will extend service until as late as 1:20 a.m.
Announcements of the extended service will be made at the games.
On Fridays and Saturdays, Metrorail is open until 3 a.m., with the last connecting train departing Navy Yard at 2:20 a.m.
“AU is known for helping people in Washington ‘get to where they want to go’ – – and now supports Nats fans in post-season play,” says American University President Neil Kerwin, in a news release.
